Two google e-commerce whizz kids used the world’s most popular search engine to determine the most dog friendly and rapidly gentrifying area of Dublin, before opening the city’s first canine cafe. With dog-friendly MVP and The Fumbally on the same street, this 1800’s detached house on Clanbrasil st was a natural choice for Ella and Paul.
No prizes for guessing the theme of décor. Walking past the distracting tablecloths and teacup lampshades you’ll notice a painted tree covered in photos of regulars’ canines surrounding Toby, the owner’s rat terrier. The tiled floor is the last remaining hint at Pupp’s former incarnation – as a barbers shop.
The cafe owners’ other passions in life are food and coffee. The pair sampled every roast available before settling on Nick’s seven bean blend. The (human) menu caters for every allergy – in keeping with the cafe’s ‘everyone welcome’ policy. Organic Oat porridge with honey fruit compote has a pay as you feel price.
The doggie menu also caters for those with dietary requirements. As well as serving tea and beer for pooches, there’s a range of natural treats from the Cheeky Dog Bakery. These are also available from the retail section, along with canine clothing and accessories.
