Every lunchtime, you’ll find a queue down Leeson street, as hungry punters await the daily specials at Emer’s Kitchen.

After years spent working in catering and IT, Emer and her husband Brendan set off on a trip to New York and London to find inspiration for a business venture. Soon after, they opened this bakery / grab-and-go food and coffee house in 2014.
Lunch specials change daily, but the highlight must be Thursday’s sandwich: slow-cooked brisket of beef, a Bourbon BBQ sauce, mixed leaves & a fennel, red & white cabbage slaw. Preparation begins on monday and by thursday, meat is so tender and juicy that you’ll need to take a handful of napkins with you. The bread is from the Firehouse Bakery in Delgany. Salad specials change seasonally.
While there is no seating in the venue, there’s plenty to gaze at while you wait: a creative window display, a hanging bicycle that spells out the word FOOD and of course, the edible goods on display at the counter. The décor is by the same crowd that fit Donnybrook Fair, Chopped and dozens of other venues across Dublin.
On the way out, you might notice the wall is covered in photographs of customers enjoying their Badger and Dodo coffee, from their EK cups, at various landmarks around the world.
