An Aungier St gem that opened in the summer 2016 and became a hit with DIT students, local office workers and residents. These, along with the friendly staff and artisan suppliers make up the ‘Network’ that owner Oliver Cruise wanted to create.

He and head barista Daniel know all of the regulars by name, and when not working their magic behind the stylish Black Eagle coffee machine, are always keen for a chat.

Initially, gaining a following for it’s speciality coffee and delicious cakes and sandwiches, the Network now offers a concise but varied brunch menu. Try the mushrooms and shaved fennel on sourdough from Tartine Bakery. Most of the pastries are made in-house, others are from neighbours Bakelicious.

Artisan suppliers extend beyond food – the coffee is from 3FE, with London-based Workshop as a guest roaster. Handcrafted barista aprons, from ‘Enrich and Endure, are made from Irish linen and crockery comes from Derek Wilson Ceramics, in Belfast.

Slater Design (Jo’ Burger and Patrick Guilbaud) were are responsible for the branding, with the minimalist interiors completed by Grainne Webber architects (Saba, Fonte Coffee, Cafe Grey). The criss-cross pattern found in the ceiling lighting, coffee cups and packaging cleverly represents the interconnected ‘Network’.
