You might recognise the Lo-Cal Kitchen branding from the raw juices they supply to shops all over Ireland. But alas, they also have a stylish cafe, just a short stroll from the Phoenix Park.

Behind the concept are husband and wife duo Stephen and Jenny Connolly. The pair previously had their own design company and have used their interior decorating skills to create a warm and welcoming space for their customers.

The unit (built on the former Phoenix Park Racecourse) is brand new, but ample colour, up-cycled furniture and various vintage bits and pieces, strike a nice balance between the old fashioned and the modern. Tea cosies change seasonally.

There aren’t many places where you can grab a ‘Full Irish’ (style) breakfast with only 369 calories, 376-calorie Huevos Rancheros, or Eggs Royal smothered in skinny hollandaise. It’s no wonder LoCal has been a hit with gym junkies and health fanatics.

Although, some will this as an excuse to order something sweet for dessert. Be sure to try the famous ‘Snickers Pie’ – made from almonds, coconut oil, organic raw maca, cashew butter, raw cacao, date, honey and toasted cashew nuts.
