Brian O’Keeffe wanted to create a space where his parents as would feel comfortable, as well as his peers. Set in an a old town house just off the busy Camden St, his cafe manages to keep a homely feel with it’s comfort food and friendly vibes.

Leaving behind a promising career in finance, O’Keeffe spent some time immersed in Parisian cafe culture. His barista talents were recognised when he won the Irish brewers cup in 2014. A prior course in furniture making came in handy, when he decided the time was right to build a cafe in his hometown.

Meet Me In The Morning, which is named after a rather poignant Bob Dylan song, seems tiny at first, but there are extra tables upstairs. Outside, under the hand painted sign by ‘Signs of Power‘ (Gaillot Et Gray, Two Boys Brew, Fia etc), there is seating which catches the sun all day.

At the counter you’ll find an intriguing series of polaroid photographs, sent from locations in France and the US, by a mystery customer. Beside that there’s a shelf stacked with rare coffee roasters such as La Cabra (Denmark) and Gardelli (Italy).

The menu changes regularly – expect lots of herbs, spices and garlic, in dishes based around seasonal vegetables from McNally’s Farm and other local suppliers. The sweet options are not to be overlooked either, all cakes are baked in-house and donuts are available thurs – sun.
