A new popup café has opened on Stephen’s st Lower, Dublin 2 offering next level cheese toasties, wines, coffee and an open invitation to any creative folks who want to hold an event in its welcoming surrounds.

Behind the concept is Maeve O’Malley, who previously owned her own restaurant in Cleggan, Co. Galway. She has teamed up with Sheridan’s Cheesemongers, Jamie from Upside Coffee and the Together For Yes campaign to create what she describes as:

“A Communal pop up the heart of Dublin city centre, utilising Ireland’s finest suppliers to create a truly more-ish menu.”

“We plan to host many events over our three-month residency. From mindfulness workshops to artisan seminars and even a homeless food drive. It is our wish to merge youth culture, music and the issues that matter under the one roof, assisting in invoking change for all”, she says.

Anyone who remembers the building’s former incarnation as The Oolong Tea Rooms will note that the classy combination of dark wood, chandeliers and Chesterfield couches has remained. The space will be under the ‘Meltdown’ banner until the end of June.
