Yes, Dublin is getting tastier by the week. Here’s what is new and exciting around town in the world of food, drink and coffee. Happy eating!
1.) Vurgerface Vegan Burgers in Stoneybatter – July 14th 2018

From the 14th of July, The Belfry in Stoneybatter will host a vegan burger pop-up. Owner Sarah Boland has promised
“High quality, Irish sourced, plant-based food in a fun and innovative environment”. Oh and um.. cheesecake on a stick – sounds yum!
2.) Hillbillys Chicken Burgers in Rathmines – Summer 2018

This has grown to become Cork city’s favourite chipper since first opening in 1997. The ‘Family restaurant’ has snuck into Dublin’s suburbs Walkinstown and Fairview, but this is their first central outlet. Hillbilly’s has decent chicken wings and beefburgers but are most famous for their ‘Breast in a Bun’ – great post-pub soakage.
3.) The Stella Diner in Rathmines – Now Open

A new American-style diner from the ubiquitous Press Up Group next to the recently restored Stella cinema.
A mosaic floor, golden light fixtures, bar stools and curated playlists make a playful setting to enjoy some diner classics, eg: pancakes with bacon served right up until closing time. Nice.
4.) A Second LEGIT Cafe in Phibsbourough – July 2018?

Damien and Jamacon were the first to bring speciality coffee to The Liberties and their Meath St cafe continues to be a local community hub.
You’ll find the new shop on North Circular Road, near the main crossroads in Phibsbourough.
5.) Missus Vietnamese Restaurant on Aungier St – July 2018?

A new outing from the team behind Lucky Tortoise (dumplings) and Ruben (toasties) popups, who are currently putting out some ace food at Berlin Bar on Dame Lane.
This one is sure to fill a huge gap in the Dublin market for some super-tasty Vietnamese food.
6.) A New Cheese Shop By Meet Me In The Morning – Summer 2018
There is definitely room for more cheese shops in Dublin and no better people to bring us a new one than the trusted crew behind this excellent cafe.
The shop will be around the Dury St area. Stay tuned!
7.) Niall Davidson’s Restaurant – South Frederick Street – 2019

The Irish Times has reported that the chef behind Nuala restaurant in Shoreditch is teaming up with Hugh Higgins, former head chef of Luna, to open a new ‘counter dining’ eatery. Here’s hoping he brings some of the Allpress coffee they use with him.
The unnamed venue will be inside a new hotel, currently being built on South Frederick St (that’s the one in between Dawson and Kildare St).
8.) Five Guys Burger Restaurant in Swords – End of 2018
Love it or ‘meh’ it, there’s no denying that many, many Northsiders will be ecstatic about a 3rd Dublin Five Guys opening in Swords Pavillions. According to www.thejournal.ie the shopping centre is getting a new “restaurant quarter” which will include a new Milanos.
9.) The Devlin Hotel in Ranelagh – Summer 2018
Hard to believe there are no hotels in Ranelagh – yet. If ‘The Dean’ Hotel is anything to go by, The Press Up Group look set to deliver another winner.
It promises “A rooftop bar and restaurant, 40 stylish, slick and comfortable rooms, a ground floor bar and lobby, and a 50 seater subterranean cinema, screening the best of classic and indie films all week long.”
10.) Coffeeangel in George’s Dock – Now Open

Coffeeangel has a long track record of providing excellent java and snacks to the Dublin masses and let’s face it, Dublin 1 is severely lacking in just that.
This is the biggest CA to date and it’s open Monday to Saturday in The Exchange Building.
