Lema Murphy worked in marketing but had always considered opening her own cafe. When she won the World Chip Championships in 2015, the plans for Pot Bellied Pig were kickstarted into action.

Bacon and coffee: two of the most intoxicating smells, and two of the things that PBP does best. The former from O’Neills in Wexford (the preferred choice of the Food Writers Guild) and the latter supplied by Cloudpicker.

Meat lovers might opt for ‘JJ’s Massive Sandwich’ – five O’Neills rashers on an Arun Bakery Vlaa, or you could go for ‘The Whole Hog’, a take on the Irish breakfast. For vegetarians: the self-explanatory ‘No Hog’, also Wild Mushrooms on toast with tarragon cream and parmesan or the lighter option of poached eggs with smashed avocado.

With black and white throughout, a pink staircase and plenty of hanging botanicals, designers Kingston Lafferty have created a fun, yet minimalist, industrial look for this former off-licence.

If you fancy a boozy brunch there’s are prosecco, McIvor’s cider and seasonal craft beers from Dot Brew. All of which can be enjoyed in the back garden on sunny days.
