Shaggy Dog: Mobile Coffee Shop in Former Ambulance

0

Childhood friends Harry Kelly & Stephen Maguire used to work in mobile catering at festivals every summer and in restaurants and bars during college. After a few years in ‘real’ jobs the pair decided they didn’t want to work for other people anymore.

Speaking to Evan from Smack Coffee they realised how doable making a mobile coffee shop could be. When they found an ambulance for sale in Tipperary, there was no turning back.

The van was stripped down, cleaned out, repaired and painted by hand. From here they built a reinforced counter, a power unit and completed the branding. All of this was done under the watchful eye of Ernie; the pooch behind the name and logo.

Upside Coffee, locally roasted in Dublin, is the order of the day. Owner Jamie O’Neill’s extensive knowledge and roasting expertise have been useful in helping the lads enter the world of specialty coffee.

Find them at Cruagh Wood in the Dublin Mountains, Weekends 8am – 4pm
