Despite having queues out the door every lunchtime, the staff at Tang endeavour to make each customer feel looked after. Their other goal is to leave as little trace as possible on the environment and try and influence others to do the same through their actions.

Owners Stephen and Claire O’Dwyer wound down their other business Yogism, a frozen yoghurt shop, to focus their energy on this new Dawson St favourite, in 2016. The tiny unit has housed many food-related businesses before from sandwich bar to ice cream parlour but it looks like its latest incarnation here to stay.

The food at Tang food carries a Middle-Eastern influence but uses as much seasonal Irish produce as possible. With the exception of the baking, everything is made fresh in-house. You’ll find a selection of daily salads, Lebanese flatbreads, Shakshuka, Tzatziki and lots of other ‘Tangy’ flavours from the Levant.

All of the hallmark produce of a good Dublin cafe is here: Le Levain Bread, Butlers Organic Eggs, Gubbeen Smokehouse, FX Buckley, Bear Lemon and Oh Happy Veggie for treats, Village Dairy Milk. And then there’s Upside Coffee and Wall and Keogh teas too. Be warned: seating is limited.

23c Dawson St, Dublin 2

Mon to Fri: 7.30 – 5
