Hear ye! hear ye! Coffee drinkers, baristas and coffee geeks, there’s an event on the 8th of July in Meath St’s LEGIT cafe that you should check out!
Following the success of the inaugural 2017 edition, The Liberties Brewers Cup is returning on Sunday 8th July. For anyone unfamiliar on what exactly a brewers cup entails, we caught up with the organiser to get the lowdown. Marcin, head barista at LEGIT and the man behind the T-Ancaire Gorm blog and popup events, had this to say:
“It’s a competition for baristas and people who love coffee plus a bit of fun. 15 participants will take part in a black coffee brewing battle reviewed by three judges. Anyone can apply and entry is free for spectators.”
In the elimination round judges score the coffees using the Specialty Coffee Association’s World Brewers Cup scoresheet and in the final, contestants will have 12 mins to brew their coffee using their preferred extraction method.”
If you haven’t already munched down a Sunday brunch feast that day – sandwiches, canapés, pastry platters, beers will be provided courtesy of LEGIT.
Prizes include coffee, a voucher, beers and a brewing kit for the top three contestants.
