Upside is one of a growing number of small-batch coffee roasters across Dublin. It’s formula is simple but effective: import delicious coffee, roast it to perfection & share it with the public.
Behind this particular roastery is local boy, Jamie O’Neill. Upside opened in August 2016, when O’Neill moved home from years spent in London. Here, he became an expert in all things coffee, working for Nude and later Climpson & Son.
The Upside HQ is conveniently located just outside the city centre in Fairview; doors are always open and visits by the public are encouraged. As well as coffee, you’ll find all of the requisite equipment for all of your home brewing needs there too.
The industrial estate forms a close knit community of small enterprises – the metalwork shop next door built the tables for the roastery. Art of Coffee and Coffee Angel are also neighbours. Dublin-based illustrator Meagan Hyland, is behind the nifty logo – note the jug-shaped ‘U’ in Upside.
You’ll find Upside blends and single origin roasts at: Moo Market in Stoneybatter, Ernesto’s of Rathmines, Tang on Dawson St, Vice Coffee Inc on Abbey St, Clement and Pekoe on South William St, Indigo and Cloth in Temple Bar and more.
